Test Case Versions?

We need to test different software releases, which means some test cases will be different for each release. Is there any kind of version control on the test cases? Is there any suggestion for how to maintain a set of test cases but have different versions of some of them based on which software release they relate to?

Hello, As you update a testcase, the system maintains an implicit version. So lets say TC-1 was written and tested for software release 1 in cycle-1 and it passes. Releaes is done. Then you update TC-1 for software release 2 and add it to cycle-2.

This update doesn't have any impact on the cycle-1 as it contains the first version of TC-1 that was added to it. The updated version can only be found in cycle-2.

Thanks for the response. I think I understand what you are saying about test cases in cycles. But we would essentially need to maintain 2 versions of some test cases. We'd need the ability to run the original test case (in cycle 1) multiple times. For example, we have 2 software releases that we test each month. Do we just keep running cycle 1 and cycle 2 every month? What if we need to change the test case that we're using for cycle 1?

At this point, it is not possible to explicitly maintain two versions of the case and then choose which one to execute in which cycle.

The version added to a cycle can stay as is until a force-update is done. We do have explicit versioning in our backlog but it has not been prioritized yet. ~Cheers Noopur
